Southern Cross Pre-school is Ofsted registered and based at Southern Cross Church halls (please note we are not connected to the church we just rent the halls). We have two large halls and a garden. All areas are safe and secure allowing children to move freely between all areas.

We offer high quality learning through play with qualified, caring and dedicated staff members. Many of our staff are parents themselves so have lots of experience. We are proud to say all staff have been with us for many years so we have a happy constant team.

We accept all cultural, ethnic, religious and social backgrounds. We are not conected to any particular religious belief however we do celebrate the festivals of many cultures so children learn about difference customs in our community.

We sometimes take the children out on trips in our local area to further their learning experinces. An example of some places we have visited are:

  • Local garden centre to buy seeds and plants to grow in our garden or for children to take home

  • Visit to the park looking a nature

  • Trip to the shops to buy fruit so children can make fruit kebabs or other cooking items

  • Visit to Mile Oak farm

  • Visit to Hove toy museum looking at toys from the past

We also have visitors to our setting to extend learning on topics we are covering. Here is an example of visitors:

  • Fire Engine

  • Pet animals

  • Police and people that help us

  • Road Crossing Assistants to promote road safety

  • Guide dogs for the blind

  • Parents who wish to share a tallent or talk about their job/hobby

We hold several social events for children and their families such as:

  • Christmas party

  • Summer Party and School leavers fairwell

  • Easter Egg Hunt

  • Open Days

  • Autumn Fair

  • Teddy Bears Picnic

COVID-19 restrictions are preventing some activities at this time in order to keep everyone safe. We are however still offering lots of fun activities for the children.

Charity status

We are a registered charity so we run a non-profit pre-school. All profits go into providing resources for the children and ensuring the quality of service is at its best.

We hold fund raising events each year and we get everyone involved. It's lots of fun and always a very sociable affair.

Charity No: 1039124

We have a committee which help manage our setting. The committee is made up of volunteers; many of which are parents and carers. We hold meetings each term to discuss fundraising, finances, setting policies and much more. The committee help organise fundraising events which enable us to purchase more resources for our children and to improve our environment. We always encourage parents/carers to get involved and help where they can.
